Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the southwestern part of Mizoram, India. The sanctuary is named after the Ngengpui River, which flows through the valley where it is located.


The sanctuary features tropical wet evergreen forests, montane subtropical forests, and jhum forests. Bamboo is a significant component of the native flora in the region. 


The elevation in the sanctuary ranges from 200 meters to 1200 meters above sea level. The climate in Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary is tropical, characterized by high rainfall and humidity throughout the year.


The sanctuary is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. It hosts several mammal species, including elephants, tigers, leopards, clouded leopards, jungle cats, Malayan sun bears, and more. 


The region also supports a rich avifauna population, with over 85 bird species recorded, including species like the Great Pied Hornbill and Whitecheeked Partridge.


The best time to visit Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary is from October to April.
