Sikkim National Parks 

(1) Khangchendzonga National Park:

  • It is located in the Mangan district and Gyalshing district in the Indian state of Sikkim. 
  • It is situated in the eastern Himalayas.
  • It was established as a protected area in 1977.
  • It was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016.
  • It was declared UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2018.
  • It covers an area of approximately1784 square kilometers. 
  • The park is home to several glaciers like Zemu Glacier Talung Glacier  Rathong Glacier.
  • Teesta Rive, Rathong Chu River, Prek Chu River and Talung River flow through the park.
  • The park is home to Bhutia and Lepcha people.
  • Flora: Alpine, Sub-alpine, Temperate, and Subtropical vegetation.
  • Fauna: Indian Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Snow Leopard, Musk Deer, Himalayan Tahr, Blood Pheasant, Satyr Tragopan, Rat Snake, Russell's Viper, Himalayan Newt, Himalayan Pit Viper etc.

Arunachal Pradesh National Parks 

(1) Namdapha National Park:

  • It is located in the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, India.
  • It was declared a national park in 1983.
  • It was declared a Tiger Reserve by the Government in 1983.
  • It covers an area of approximately 1,985 square kilometers.
  • It is located in the eastern Himalayan ranges
  • Noa-Dihing River, Namdapha River, Diyun River, Dapha River, Deban River flow through the park.
  • Moti Jheel located within park.
  • Tribes: Tangsa, Singpho,  Lisu, Chakma.
  • Flora: Tropical Evergreen Forests, Bamboo groves, and Alpine meadows. 
  • Fauna: Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Hoolock Gibbons, Asiatic Black Bear, Takin, Red Panda etc.

(2) Mouling National Park:

  • It is located in the Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, India. 
  • It is located in the right bank of river Siang river.
  • It was declared a national park in 1982.
  • It is forming the western part of the Dihang-Dibang Biosphere Reserve.
  • It covers an approximate area of 483 square kilometers.
  • It is situated in the Adi Hills of the Eastern Himalayas.
  • Waterfall: Dabung Waterfall and Nirbung Waterfall.
  • Tribes: Adi Tribe.
  • Flora: Broadleaf Trees, Coniferous Trees.
  • Fauna: Clouded Leopard, Red Panda, Hoolock Gibbons, Wild Buffalo, Leopard, Elephant, Hog Deer, Barking Deer etc.

Assam National Parks

(1) Kaziranga National Park:

  • It is located in the Golaghat, Karbi Anglong and Nagaon districts of the state of Assam, India. 
  • It is situated on the southern banks of the Brahmaputra River.
  • It was declared a national park in 1974.
  • It was declared a Tiger Reserve under Project Tiger in 2008-09.
  • It cover an area of  approximately 430 square kilometers.
  • The park has two important ranges, namely Burapahar Range and Bagori Range.
  • Flora: Grasslands, Alluvial Savannah Woodland, Moist Mixed Deciduous Forests, Riparian Forests.
  • Fauna: Royal Bengal Tigers, One Horned Rhinoceros, Asiatic Wild Water Buffaloes, Swamp Deer, Indian Elephanis, Wild Boars, Hog Deer etc.

(2) Manas National Park:

  • It is located in the Bongaigaon and Barpeta district of Assam, India.
  • It was designated as a Tiger Reserve under the Project in 1973.
  • ational Park Status: In 1990, Manas Wildlife Sanctuary 
  • It was declared a national park in 1990.
  • Manas was established as an Elephant Reserve under Project Elephant in 2003.
  • It covers an area of approximately 390 square kilometers.
  • It is situated in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas,
  • The park is named after River Manas that flows through the National Park.
  • Flora: Tropical Evergreen Forests, Semi-evergreen Forests, Alluvial Grasslands.
  • Fauna: Bengal Tiger, One-horned Rhinoceros, Wild Water Buffalo, Pygmy Hog, Golden Langur, Red panda, Asian Elephant etc.

(3) Nameri National Park:

  • It is located in the Sonitpur district of the state of Assam in India. 
  • It was declared a national park in 1998.
  • The park became a part of the Project Tiger initiative in 1999-2000,
  • It covers an approximate area of 200 square kilometers.
  • It is situated in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas.
  • The river Jia-Bhoroli and its tributaries: The Nameri river, Upper Dikorai river and Bor Dikorai river flow through the park.
  • Flora: Assam Silk Tree, Elephant Apple, Indian Rosewood.
  • Fauna: Royal Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Wild Dog, Asian Elephant, Gaur etc.

(4) Dibru-Saikhowa National Park:

  • It is located in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts of  Assam, India.
  • It was declared as a national park in 1999.
  • It cover an area of 340 km2. 
  • It is a part of Dibru-Saikhowa Biosphere Reserve.
  • The park is bounded by the Brahmaputra and Lohit rivers in the north and Dibru River in the south.
  • Tribe: Mishing tribe, Deori tribe, Sonowal Kachari etc.
  • Flora: Tropical Evergreen and Semi-Evergreen Forest Species, Swamp Forest.
  • Fauna: Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephant, Indian Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Asiatic Water Buffalo, Barking Deer, Feral Horse etc.
  • The park is famous for its white-winged wood duck and feral horses population.

(5) Orang National Park:

  • Orang National Park is located in the Darrang and Sonitpur districts of Assam, India.
  • It is also known as Mini Kaziranga National Park.
  • It was declared a national park in 1999. 
  • It was declared as a tiger reserve in 2016 under Project Tiger.
  • The park covers an area of approximately 78.81 square kilometer.
  • It is located on the north bank of the Brahmaputra River.
  • Flora: Indian almond, Silk cotton tree, Ccrepe myrtle, Dalbergia sissoo, Terminalia spp (terminalia trees) etc.
  • Fauna: Indian One-Horned Rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tiger, Wild Buffalo, Asiatic Elephant, Pygmy Hog etc.

(6) Raimona National Park:

  • It is located in the Gossaigaon and Kokrajhar subdivisions of Kokrajhar district of Assam, India.
  • It was declared a national park in 2021. 
  • The park covers an area of approximately 422 square kilometers.
  • The park is bounded by tributaries of the Brahmaputra, the Sonkosh river on the west and the Saralbhanga river on the east. The Pekua river makes Raimona National Park’s southern boundary.
  • Flora: Sal Trees, Teak Trees.
  • Fauna: Golden Langur, Asian Elephant, Royal Bengal Tiger, Clouded Leopard, Indian Gaur, Wild Water Buffalo, Spotted Deer etc.

(7) Dehing Patkai National Park:

  • It is located in the Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts of Assam, India. 
  • It was declared a national park in 2021.
  • It covers an area of approximately 231.65 km2.
  • It is situated in the Patkai Hills Range.
  • Dehing river flows through the park.
  • Tribe: Tai Phake, Khamti and Singpho.
  • Flora: Evergreen Rainforests.
  • Fauna: Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Asian Elephant, Hoolock Gibbon, Chinese Pangolin, Dhole or Asian Wild Dog, White Winged Wood Duck etc.

Manipur National Parks 

(1) Keibul Lamjao National Park:

  • It is located in the Bishnupur district of the state of Manipur, India.
  • It is the only floating national park in the world.
  • The park is renowned for being the last natural refuge of the endangered Sangai (Manipur brow-antlered deer or dancing deer).
  • The park is famous for Phumdis vegetation. 
  • It was declared a national park in 1977. 
  • It has been recognized as a Ramsar Site in 1990.
  • It covers an area of approximately 40 square kilometers.
  • Manipur River passes through the park.
  • The aprk is part of Loktak Lake.
  • Tribe: Meitei community.
  • Flora: Phumdi Vegetation.
  • Fauna: Brow-antlered deer (Sangai Deer or Dancing Deer), Hog Deer, Wild Boar, Large Indian Civet, Common Otter, Jungle Cat, Asian Golden Cat etc.

(2) Sirohi (Shirui) National Park:

  • It is located in the Ukhrul district of the state of Manipur, India.
  • It was established in 1982 as a national park.
  • It is named after the Shirui Lily, a rare and endangered flower species that is found in the park
  • The park covers an area of approximately 41 square kilometers.
  • It is located in the Shirui Kashong Range.
  • Tribe: Tangkhul Naga tribe
  • Flora: Shirui Lily, Oak Trees, Rhododendrons, Coniferous Trees etc.
  • Fauna: Tiger, Leopard, Wild Boar, Deer, Antelopes etc.

Meghalaya National Parks 

(1) Nokrek National Park:

  • It is located in the West Garo Hills district of the state of Meghalaya, India.
  • It  was established in the year 1986.
  • It was designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2009. 
  • The park covers an area of approximately 47 square kilometers.
  • It is located in Garo Hills region.
  • Nokrek Range is a prominent hill range within its boundaries.
  • Simsang River, Ganol, Dareng, Nitai and Bhugi rivers flow through the park.
  • Tribe: Garo Tribe
  • Flora: Sal, Teak, Hollock, Gamari etc..
  • Fauna: Western Hoolock Gibbon, Asian Elephant, Indian Bison (Gaur), Clouded Leopard, Marbled Cat etc.

(2) Balphakram National Park:

  • It is located in South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, India. 
  • It was established as a national park in 1987.
  • It covers an area of approximately 220 square kilometers.
  • It is located in the southern part of the Garo Hills.
  • Simsang River flow through the park.
  • Caves: Siju-Dobkhakol Cave
  • Tribe: Garo tribe
  • Flora: Tropical Deciduous Trees, Subtropical Vegetation, Grassland, Bamboo Forest and Carnivorous Plants.
  • Fauna: Marbled Cat, Wild Water Buffalo,  Red Pandas, Asian Elephant, Indian Bison, Asian Golden Cat etc.

Mizoram National Parks

(1) Murlen National Park:

  • It is located in the Champhai district of Mizoram, India. 
  • It was declared a national park in 1991.
  • The park covers an approximate area of 200 square kilometers.
  • It is located in the Mizo Hills.
  • Flora: Tropical and Subtropical Forests, Montane Forests.
  • Fauna: Tiger, Leopard, Malayan Giant Squirrel, Himalayan Black Bear, Serow, Hoolock Gibbon, Goral etc.

(2) Phawngpui National Park:

  • It is located in the state of Mizoram in northeastern India.
  • It was declared a national park in 1992.
  • It covers an area of approximately 50 square kilometers.
  • It is located in the Phawngpui Hills (Blue Mountain Hills). 
  • Phawngpui Hills situated in Mizo Hills (Lushai Hills). 
  • Kolodyne River flows along the eastern side of the park.
  • Flora: Sub-tropical Broadleaf Forests, Tropical Evergreen Forests, Bamboo, Grasslands, Orchids.
  • Fauna: Tiger, Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Himalayan Black Bear, Binturong, Serow, Ghoral etc.

Nagaland National Parks 

(1) Intanki National Park:

  • It is located in the Peren district of Nagaland, India. 
  • It was declared a national park in 1993.
  • It covers an area of approximately 202 square kilometers.
  • It is situated near the western periphery of the Barail Range. 
  • Dhansiri River flow through the park.
  • Flora: Grasslands, Equatorial Forests, Deciduous Vegetation, Semi-tropical Vegetation, Orchids, Bamboo.
  • Fauna: Tiger, Asian Elephant, Leopard, Wild Dog, Asiatic Black Bear, Clouded Leopard, Golden Cat, Marbled Cat etc.

Tripura National Parks

(1) Clouded Leopard National Park:

  • It is located within the Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary in Tripura, India
  • It was established in 2007.
  • It is the India's first dedicated wildlife park for Clouded Leopards.
  • It covers an area of about 5.08 square kilometres.
  • Gumti River flow through the park.
  • Flora: Kanak, Arjun, Bahera, Sal, Bamboo, Agar, Awla, Amlak etc.
  • Fauna: Clouded Leopard, Hoolock Gibbon, Leopard Cat, Langur, Rhesus Macaque, Barking Deer etc.

(2) Rajbari National Park:

  • It is also known as Bison National Park.
  • It is located in the Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary in Tripura.
  • It was established within Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary in 2007.
  • The park covers an area of about 31.63 square kilometres.
  • Gumti River flow through the park.
  • Flora: Deciduous with a mixed moist climate, Tropical semi-evergreen, Eastern Himalayan, Savannah.
  • Fauna: Bison, Leopards, Civets, Small Cats, Crab Eating Mongoose, Flying Squirrel etc.
