Mollem National Park is the only national park in Goa.


1. Mollem National Park

  1. Mollem National Park is located in the South Goa district of Goa, India.
  2. It is situated within Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary.
  3. In, 1969, it was initially established as a wildlife sanctuary known as Mollem Game Sanctuary. Later it was renamed as Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary.
  4. In 1978, the core area of the Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary was designated as a national park and renamed Mollem National Park.
  5. Area: It cover an area of 107 square kilometres (41 sq mi). This forest area is part of the Western Ghats.
  6. River: Dudhsagar River passes through the park.
  7. Flora: West Coast tropical evergreen forests, West Coast semi-evergreen forests, and moist deciduous forests.
  8. Fauna:  Indian Bison (Gaur), Indian Leopard, Bengal Tiger, Sambar Deer, Barking Deer, Sloth Bear, Indian Giant Squirrel, Slender Loris, Greater Indian Hornbill, King Cobra, Cat Snake, Hump-nosed Pit Viper, Common Krait etc.
